our vision and what we believe
Foundational Principles
- Purpose: The church aims to know and obey God’s Word to please Him.
- Guidance: Scripture is the final authority for all teaching, relationships, and decision-making.
- Unity: The doctrinal statement serves as a framework for members to serve together in love.
The Scriptures
- Inspiration: Both the Old (39 books) and New (27 books) Testaments are the uniquely inspired Word of God.
- Authority: The Bible is the supreme standard for evaluating all human conduct.
God
- Nature: One God exists in three equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- The Father: Sovereign ruler of the universe who orders all things for His glory and adopts believers as His children.
- The Son (Jesus Christ): Fully God and fully man, born of a virgin; He died for sins, rose bodily, and now serves as High Priest.
- The Holy Spirit: A divine person who convicts of sin, enables the "new birth," and empowers believers with gifts
Mankind
- The Fall: Because of Adam’s voluntary sin, all humanity is born with a fallen nature.
- Depravity: Every person is a "sinner by nature and conduct," standing condemned before God.
Salvation
- Method: Salvation is a free gift of grace received through faith alone in Jesus Christ, not by works.
- Justification: A legal act where God declares a believer righteous.
- Sanctification: A three-part process of being set apart for holiness (positional, progressive, and final).
- Security: True believers are kept secure by God and will persevere to the end.
The Church
- Universal & Local: The Church is the body of Christ; the local church is a self-governing congregation of baptized believers.
- Offices: Leadership is restricted to biblically qualified elders (pastors) and deacons.
- Ordinances: Baptism is by immersion (symbolic only); the Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of remembrance.
- Israel: God maintains a distinct eternal covenant with the Jewish nation, who will be restored in the future.
Moral Issues
- Sanctity of Life: Life begins at fertilization; abortion and euthanasia are considered murder.
- Marriage & Sexuality: Marriage is exclusively between one man and one woman. All sexual activity outside this bond is sinful.
- Gender Roles: Men and women are spiritually equal but have distinct roles; only men may hold positions of authority (elders/pastors) in the church.
- Family: Husbands are the leaders; parents are responsible for the spiritual discipline of children, including corporal correction.
Christian Interactions
- Love: Believers must act graciously toward everyone, including enemies.
- Conflict: Violence and revenge are forbidden; members are prohibited from bringing civil lawsuits against one another.
